Growing Nasturtium

For optimum growth, add a general fertilizer in mid season. Deadhead blooms to promote new flowers and to maintain an attractive appearance.

Harvesting and Storing Nasturtium

Harvest leaves as soon as several leaves are on the plant as tender young leaves taste better than older ones. The flowers are also edible, but have less taste. Both blossoms and leaves have the spicy flavor of cress.

Nasturtiums are aphid magnets; wash the flowers thoroughly before using. Mold and fungus disease can occur in hot, humid weather. Apply a vegetable appropriate insecticides or fungicides only as needed.
